We had a late letter in from Dr C L Michael Beardmore, Frinton on Sea, Essex, to say that he was a member of the Brigg Grammar School Old Boys' Association many years ago but due to change of address had lost contact. He is, however, in fairly regular contact with several Old Boys, and a small crowd of 1964 leavers hope to attend the Annual Dinner at Elsham Golf Club. Mike has not visited Brigg for 24 years and has not been within the school since he left. He hopes that Howard Paynter will be speaking with Mr Brittain to arrange for them to have a snoop round during that weekend.
Ted Dodd gave us news on Ken Bell, whose parents used to keep the Yarborough Hunt in Bridge Street. He recently won £1,000 in a national competition for the best business essay of 1997. Ted has details if anyone is interested. Ken was Deputy Editor of The Briggensian in 1940, later working for the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph, Yorkshire Post, Birmingham Post, etc., still doing free-lance work for the meat trade press. Some people just can't retire, can they!
A last-minute entry from David Brewer (1957-64) of Brimcliffe, Sheffield who said he had only recently become aware of the existence of the Briggensians Association as a result of recent contact with a former contemporary at Brigg Grammar School, Howard Paynter.
