In addition to the news - reported below - that the speaker at the 2007 Dinner is David Leaning, who was at BGS from 1947 to 1955, we have heard more from other members of that first postwar generation. We reported earlier on the meeting of Brian Thornalley and Mike Willey (1945-52) after 54 years.
In March 2006, Brian also made contact with "Danny" Triggs (1945-1950), who left school to be a librarian and who lives near Grimsby. These three, for five years at School, vied with each other for the B stream form prizes. Les D Triggs is the author of the definitive history of Grimsby Town Football Club.
And Brian tells Ken Proctor that he recently managed to contact Ken Stothard (1949-1953), who now lives in Australia, and has put him in touch with Mike Willey. He adds that he was in contact with the Very Rev. David Leaning a few years ago when they were both involved in planting yew trees for his parish.
Speaking of football - we were very pleased to hear from Keith Lacy (1944-1949). After working for Fulham and Chelsea Football Clubs and also for Surrey County Cricket Club, Keith has been called out of retirement to work part time at Leeds United F.C.. He comments that if he lives long enough he may be able to add all the major football clubs, though his life expectancy would need to be about 120 years!

Professor Sandy Trees, Briggensian and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Liverpool, congratulates fellow Briggensian Dr. Steve Ramm at his PhD graduation ceremony. Steve completed his thesis on the evolutionary biology of sex earlier in the year, and is now a Postdoctoral Researcher in Mammalian Behaviour and Evolution at Liverpool University.

Joanna Redford, Karl's sister, has written with the sad news of the sudden death of Karl White in September 2006 aged 43. Karl attended SJN from 1976 to 1980. He moved to Reading and worked for the Post Office and remained in Reading until he died. If anyone wishes to contact Joanna, please contact the Hon. Sec. for her e-mail address.
In 2007 we will be celebrating 70 years since the opening of the new High School building on Wrawby Road.

The Very Reverend David Leaning (1947-1955), who until recently was Dean of Southwell Minster, the Cathedral of the diocese of Nottingham and Southwell, will be the speaker at the 2007 Annual Dinner.
The 30th Dinner will be held on Saturday, 24th March 2007 at Elsham Golf Club starting at 7.00pm for 7.30pm.
